Webinar 2 - “Why are you doing that?" Understanding Behavior and How it Relates to Tobacco Dependence

Overview:
Understanding the “why” behind behavior by examining its function, can be beneficial while treating tobacco dependence. During this webinar, we will discuss the basic principles of behavior such as its various functions and components. We will also identify what triggers these actions. Time will be spent reviewing how this can be applied in tobacco treatment when working with patients.
Goals and Objectives:
At the end of this presentation, the attendees will be able to:
- Describe and provide examples of the four functions of all behavior.
- Identify the three components of behavior.
- Utilize knowledge regarding the principles of behavior to help individuals who want to quit tobacco products.
Webinar 3 - Tobacco Treatment in the Oncology Patient

Overview:
At the time of a cancer diagnosis, one-fourth of patients are using tobacco products. Even after a cancer diagnosis, when patients report high motivation to quit using tobacco, less than half are successful at tobacco cessation. This webinar will address the benefits and challenges of providing tobacco cessation treatment to oncology patients. Despite the challenges, it is important to address tobacco cessation given the impact on survival and quality of life.
Goals and Objectives:
- Describe the benefits of offering tobacco cessation treatment interventions and how it may improve oncological and overall health outcomes
- Identify the challenges in treating tobacco cessation with the oncology patient
- Describe effective evidence-based treatment for managing tobacco cessation in the oncological patient
